Overview
The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology at Chettinad Dental College and Research Institute was established with a revelation to offer the best inpatient care, student mentoring and research. Our specialty is highly diverse, which is reflected in the broad range of our department’s curriculum. The department faculties are actively engaged in collaborative research work and innovative teaching-learning practices.
Under Graduate Program
The curriculum for Oral Medicine and Radiology is taught both in third and final years of BDS with an intention of imparting theoretical and clinical knowledge to the students through lecture classes and clinical postings. We also practise innovative teaching methods such as cross over teaching, role play, flip class, flashcards, etc.
Post Graduate Program
The post-graduation program was commenced in the year 2017. The students are colossally taught about the medical management of oral cancer, pre-cancerous lesions, orofacial pain, Temporomandibular disorders and oral manifestations of systemic diseases.
This program offers intense teaching and training to comprehend the applied aspects of subject and allied subjects in both academic and clinical aspects. The learning process of the students will be through interactive theory lectures, Super speciality medical clinical postings, small group discussions, seminars, journal clubs, electives, participation in research programs.

Research & Publications
The fundamental focus areas for research are oral cancer and pre-cancerous lesions, orofacial pain including TMJ disorders, oral and cutaneous lesions and maxillofacial imaging. Currently we have 20 ongoing projects as of 2022.
