Periodontics

Periodontology is the branch of dentistry that encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the periodontal tissues that supports and surrounds the teeth and its substitutes. The specialty also deals with surgeries such as implant placement, alveolar ridge augmentation and mucogingival surgeries. MDS Periodontology is a three year program that provides training in all aspects of Periodontology and Implantology to develop comptent clinicians and to bestow advanced knowledge so as to implement evidence based treatment approaches.

The department is well equipped with advanced technologies such as Dental Laser, Electrosurgery, Surgical Loupes, Centrifuge, Sinus Elevation kit and Implant kit. Till date, more than 1000 cases using LASER and over 100 implants have been successfully performed in the department. Along with the comprehensive academic and clinical training, the department also focuses on innovative projects to produce well rounded students who actively engage in research activities. The Department has won many National and International awards to its credit.
