The Department of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics was founded with the goal of offering graduate study in orthodontics. Since its inception it has been engaged in research, teaching and patient care. A team approach to dentistry and orthodontics is emphasized on, providing state of the art treatment for patients and education for our students.
This specialty is concerned with diagnosing, preventing, and correcting misaligned teeth and jaws. Orthodontic treatments, such as braces and aligners, are used to improve bite function and esthetics. Dentofacial orthopedics involves guiding facial growth and development in children.
